Building our New Museum: Construction Diary

Work continues on preparing the Main Entrance and the roof of the Manse.
Groundworks around the Main Entrance are nearing completion. Beyond is the stone-built Steading, home to the refreshed and expanded Café.

The main Exhibition installation is in progress. The large window will create a connection between the artefacts on display and Kilmartin Glen beyond.
A centrepiece of the new Exhibitions will be a brand-new immersive audiovisual experience. There will be an exit on the left leading to the Temporary Exhibition Galleries.

The Manse contains refreshed staff offices and, shown here, the Marion Campbell Library.
Pathways are being constructed around the redeveloped buildings, providing access to the Glebe field below.
Paths now lead to key locations around the Museum, including the Learning Space on the ground floor.
The new Learning Space has fantastic views through its large sliding door.
New exterior paths and steps beneath the panoramic windows of the Reception and Shop.
Landscaping works are in progress across the wider grounds of the Museum, including several new dry-stone walls.
Construction of the new vehicle entrance, giving access to a revamped and resurfaced car park.
